SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarships

Dear Colleagues,
 

In 2019 SPIE awarded $298,000 in education scholarships to 84 outstanding individuals for their potential long-range contribution to optics, photonics, or other related fields. Individual scholarships typically range from $3,000 to $11,000. 

SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarships are open to students located anywhere in the world who are studying optics, photonics, or related fields.

  • You must be a Student Member of SPIE. The standard Student Membership fee is $20 ($10 for Russian participants).
  • You must be enrolled in an optics, photonics, or other related program (e.g., physics, electrical engineering, photonics technician) for the entire school year beginning in Fall 2020. Applicants who have received a terminal degree such as MD, JD, PhD, etc. are not eligible to apply.

SPIE Annual International Day of Light Photo Contest


Dear Colleagues,

The annual SPIE International Day of Light Photo Contest is held to raise awareness about IDL and the vital role that light and light-based technologies play in daily life. This year, photographers from Russia, the United States, and Spain were named winners of the contest, from more than 1,000 entries depicting the world-of-light theme.
