Brief History
Institute of Atmospheric Optics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences was organized in 1969 from Laboratory of Infrared Radiation of Siberian Physico-Technical Institute at Tomsk State University.
The research at the front edge of science, active participation of talented young scientists (mostly graduated from the Tomsk State University), and, what is especially important, multidisciplinary approach, the Institute's activity (scientific, production, and social) is based on, predetermine the successful development of the Institute.
The scientific school in atmospheric optics formed at the Institute is now generally recognized and well-known both in Russia and abroad.
